The
Payroll Specialist
will join the team responsible for processing a multi-state, weekly payroll for approximately 1,300 non-exempt and exempt employees. This position requires extreme attention to detail and significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations. This role will be responsible for receiving, verifying, and processing payroll data for the entire organization. Primary duties include but are not limited to: accurate data entry of information into our HRIS systems, auditing paid time off programs, processing changes to incentive and uniform programs, set-up of involuntary deductions, responding to unemployment claims, completing employment verifications, tracking ACA compliance, and conducting information integrity audits.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Process payroll in compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and company policy
  • Accurate data entry and review of payroll related forms and requests
  • Conducts periodic audits of the HRIS system to ensure integrity of the data
  • Audits and manages aspects of our Paid Time Off programs
  • Compiles payroll data and prepares reports as requested
  • Completes employment verification requests
  • Responds to unemployment claims
  • Set-up of wage garnishment records
  • Administer Uniform and Incentive programs
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves payroll-related problems or questions
  • Ensures ACA compliance
  • Assist with HR projects and initiatives
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested

Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of federal and state laws pertaining to wage & hour, payroll, and taxation regulations
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Familiarity with Paylocity and Dynamics 365 preferred
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office products on a regular basis
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Practices discretion with confidential and sensitive information, topics, and situations
  • Possesses strong communication skills and is comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Takes initiative, acts in a timely manner, and is able to prioritize work
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast paced environment

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum high school diploma and 3-5 years of related experience required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
